Description & Responsibilities:
The PE Operating Associate is a core member of the Value Creation team and works closely with the Operating Partner and Investment Professionals to design, support, and institutionalize value creation initiatives across the portfolio. The role spans the full investment lifecycle, from pre-deal operational diligence through post-close execution and exit readiness.
Investment Lifecycle Support
- Support operational diligence for new investments, including assessment of go-to-market scalability, revenue quality (ARR, GRR, NRR), pipeline health, and organizational readiness.
- Assist in developing 12–36 month value creation roadmaps tied to measurable financial outcomes.
- Contribute to exit readiness planning through improved reporting rigor and operational transparency.
GTM Architecture and Revenue Performance
- Build and maintain standardized go-to-market metrics, including bookings plans (New Logo, Expansion, Renewals), pipeline waterfall models, demand generation dashboards, and forecast analyses.
- Analyze sales velocity, pipeline coverage, and revenue predictability to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Support implementation of monthly go-to-market operating cadence and KPI tracking across portfolio companies.
Operational Infrastructure and Reporting
- Develop board-ready materials including KPI dashboards, strategy summaries, and value creation updates.
- Help standardize reporting frameworks across portfolio companies to increase institutional rigor and reduce ad hoc requests.
- Produce analytical materials for Investment Partners and Limited Partners demonstrating value creation progress.
Organizational and Functional Support
- Support executive team assessments, functional benchmarking, and performance tracking frameworks.
- Assist with compensation modeling, org design analysis, and productivity measurement initiatives.
AI and Capital Efficiency Initiatives
- Support AI-related opportunity assessments focused on competitive advantage, workflow efficiency, and margin expansion.
- Assist in identifying initiatives that improve capital efficiency and operating leverage.
Internal Content Production and Process Support
- Produce value creation materials and operational content to develop Guidepost’s internal knowledgebase and content library.
- Support portfolio enrichment events including informational roundtables with subject matter experts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a leading institution.
- 2–4 years of experience in private equity operations, management consulting, investment banking, or high-growth B2B SaaS operating roles.
- Strong analytical capability with experience in financial modeling, KPI analysis, or go-to-market performance measurement.
- Working knowledge of SaaS metrics, including ARR, GRR, NRR, pipeline coverage, and revenue forecasting.
- Demonstrated ability to create high-quality executive materials, including presentations, dashboards, and analytical summaries.
- Excellent quantitative and structured problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for senior executive and board audiences.
- Highly organized self-starter with the ability to manage multiple workstreams with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated interest in growth equity and technology-enabled businesses.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
